Short On Workforce? Try These Five Recommendations – part 2

In our previous blog entry, we mentioned two out of five-recommendation plan to tackle workforce shortages. We continue to count the rest of our recommendations which we consider that might help your management team find the right supply of workforce. When your business needs the workforce as soon as possible and there is a shortage of applications, the challenge is to secure the workforce as soon as possible.

  1. Adapt recruiting practices

When the workforce is short, it might be time to re-evaluate how your company recruits new employees. Also, managers could consider that the new staff members do not have to be perfect from the beginning of their work contract. Without hurting your business, you could easily hire applicants with 8 out of 10 skills or requirements and help them grow the rest into the role. Or, you could try hiring applicants with all the right skills, but who might not have the work experience. At the end of the day, if you adapt your recruitment practices, you discover that you find excellent, motivated individuals who can easily help your company reach its goals.

  1. Build partnerships with training and personnel leasing companies

Building a partnership with a school, training company or personnel leasing company gives your company access to a fresh supply of skilled and potential workforce. Also, those candidates even though are still learning, they are able to apply to jobs they have skills for. Managers can also open their company up to apprenticeships, co-op work placements and internships, which can help cultivate the next generation of workers. Best of all, you keep a close eye on the future of your industry.

  1. Use contingent workers

Naturally, these are workers who can provide you with invoices and usually they are useful to work with in more skilled activities. We are talking about roles where the budget and the project’s timeline is less tight but the company still needs their skills help to accomplish its objectives. Hence freelancers, consultants, contractors and many more can fill massive gaps in a company’s operation in a quickly and in a cost-effective manner. Contingent workers are becoming an incredibly popular option for many companies. Their expertise, availability and flexibility allow them to work within the confines of any timeframe, budget and project.
